Introducing the Fellowship

We are a Bible-believing Christian Fellowship, located on the Northland Road, Derry (nearly opposite the fire station). We've been established for over thirty years, and are well established in the local community.

The Derry/ Donegal Christian fellowship is an independent non-denominational and autonomous company of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ who is our only Head and and whose Word the Bible is our only guide. The fellowship is an expression of a New Testament Church established upon the teachings of the prophets, the apostles and our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in both the old and New Testament in the Bible.

It is a great joy to be brothers and sisters in the family of our God with all those in the world who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their only Lord and Saviour in whatever denomination, assembly, fellowship or Church in which they worship.

We welcome into fellowship any and all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ who wish to join us in praise and worship and to remember the Lord's death in the Breaking of Bread.

Ethos and aims

We want to live out our Christianity in a way which is relevant to the culture of the local community in Derry.  We try to provide a welcoming environment where people can come and share Christian fellowship.  We want to see lives renewed, relationships restored, and hope created.  We want to see people develop their God-given abilities, especially spiritual ones, for the good of others, with Christian values benefiting all areas of life.  Above all, we believe that this will occur as people get closer to God, through a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

With this aim we proclaim and teach the scriptures as contained in the 66 books of the Holy Bible, so as to persuade men and women in accordance with the teachings and doctrines of the Bible to believe in Jesus Christ as their only Saviour and Mediator for Eternal salvation and also to train those who believe in principle on the Christian Life.

Relationship with God

Many people want to know the peace of God, the sense of freedom and forgiveness from the guilt of past sins, a fresh start and a deepening knowledge of a loving God working in their lives.  The key to receiving these is to trust in Jesus.  He said; "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14v6).  He also promised; "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11v28).  Jesus calls us to acknowledge our need of forgiveness and restoring, to place our trust in him alone, no matter what our past has been, or what situation we find ourselves in.  Because of Jesus’ atoning death and resurrection life, we can receive all these blessings freely, from God the Father, by faith, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Beliefs

We believe in God's Word, the Bible, as the ultimate basis of our beliefs.   We read it to hear what God is saying to us, so that he will guide us, and we can adjust our lives and views so that they are more in line with what he says.

See the What we believe page for more information.

We believe that the work of the atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross is sufficient for to save all mankind, but it is only effective for those that call upon His Holy name.
